Alistair Wilson BSc (Hons)

After a background in sales Alistair undertook his first archaeological dig in 1991 before enrolling at Bradford University where he obtained his BSc (Hons) in Archaeological Sciences. On graduation he joined the department as Field Technician, 10 years later he was Superintendent Technician of the School of Archaeological, Geographical and Environmental Sciences.  As Superintendent Technician (whilst retaining the role of Field Technician) Alistair supervised 10 technicians across a variety of laboratories.

For the last six years he has been based on Orkney whilst working throughout the Highlands and Islands on commercial and research projects covering excavation, field survey and geophysics.

His experience covers excavation, teaching, laboratory work, field survey and geophysical survey in both the archaeological and environmental fields, although of recent years he has concentrated almost exclusively on geophysical survey. His teaching experience ranges from local community groups through night school classes and up to masters level, predominately in the areas of geophysics, field reconnaissance and survey methods.

Alistair primarily considers himself a technician/practitioner and brings his technical and logistical skills to the partnership.
