Rose Geophysical Consultants was established in 2010 by Dr
Susan Ovenden and Alistair Wilson,
bringing together over 40 years experience in geophysics and archaeology,
combining their involvement in the commercial sector, research, education
and community projects.
We predominately undertake geophysical
surveys as part of wider archaeological evaluations prior to
development, anything from new housing to gravel extraction.
also carry out more research themed surveys, for
example determining the layout of earlier
formal gardens to assist with estate management or as part
of wider landscape
projects. Clients to date include: National Trust for Scotland, Historic
Scotland, CFA Archaeology Ltd, Ross and Cromaty Archaeological Services
and Oxford University.
Building on past experience we also assist with community projects
offering participation in geophysical surveys to local groups and
evening lectures. We have worked with groups on Skye (Arc-eolas
Shleite) and are also working with the Discover Bute
Landscape Partnership scheme.
Rose Geophysical Consultants actively pursue their own
research projects. At the moment
we are undertaking the CSAR (Christian Sites of the Atlantic
Rim) project, part funded by a Small Grant from
the British Academy.
